Thoughts on Love; After Pride and Prejudice

You know, being of a some-what intelligent person, I enjoy things that some might think qualifies me as a “loser”. But any person with a shred of appreciation for literature might find this enjoyable. I am sorry to say i cannot take credit for it. The rights of such an amazing piece go to my sister, Olivia Carpenter.

“You know the part of Pride and Prejudice, when Mr. Darcy tells Elizabeth, ‘You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you’ ? He says it that way because admiration is different than love. Admiration is when you look and say ‘I like that person, and would like to be with him/her’. Love is when you look at someone and say ‘I like that person. If being with me would make him/her happy, then that is what I want. If he/she would be happy with that person over there, then I would want that for them instead.’ Love is when you cease to matter in the equation of their happiness. You are no longer part of the equation at all unless you are what makes that person happy. Their happiness is all that matters.”

This poem was written by Charlie Edwards. I do not own the copy right

I ask for fire and you bring me the rain
Seeking out love only brings the pain
You say your heart is too tortured to tame
Bloodied, blackened, and insane
You think you’re worthless but that’s just a lie
How can you say you’re not worth it and not even try
I know what i need and im sure that is you
Through all this confusion i’ve lost what to do
You ask me why i even want to try
I see that answer ever time i look into your eyes
You lose your love and become filled with fear
you continue looking when i am right here
